Very interesting theory. I like it.

I want her to be Wedge’s daughter, or the like of another Rogue Squadron member. Wedge wasn’t force sensitive, but he could have gotten together with a lady Jedi. Or it could be that a force sensitive individual joined Rogue Squadron, like Corran Horn in the expanded universe.

I think this theory would be more interesting than the more predictable answers like Luke or Obi-Wan. It would also explain her piloting prowess, and why she seems to have such an obsession with Rogue Squadron (think of the helmet and doll she had on Jakku).

Also, if it is Luke why would she say she thought he was just a myth? She was clearly old enough to remember what her parents looked like when she was dropped off on Jakku as a child.

But, unfortunately, I think Wedge or another Rogue Squadron member would be too much of a forgettable character for the mass public to appreciate. Only super fanboys would really get/appreciate it.

I’d much rather have her be Obi-Wan’s granddaughter than Luke’s daughter though.

In the expanded universe they had Leia and Han have twins, I think it was a twin fight and I’m standing buy that until proven otherwise.

In this theory - if obi wan was such a pure hero he wouldn’t have broken his Jedi Code vow of celibacy now would he?

Yeah, I pretty much figure that’s where it’ll go...especially since I’m pretty sure I heard a sample of Guiness’s voice during that weird flashback dream sequence. Though I’m not particularly fond of force users being a wholly genetic inherited thing...I would prefer it be a random thing than a racial superiority thing. I’ll be kind of bummed if she turns out to either be in Kenobi or the Skywalker lineage but I suppose there aren’t a whole lot of options....but I think making her some daughter of a love-child of Palpatine would be an interesting twist.

I would definitely prefer if it worked out that way. The Skywalkers as a whole are probably the 2nd worst characters in the series (after Jar Jar Binks, of course).

They did have twins, Jaina and Jacen I believe, and another son who was incredibly strong in the force (more likely the Ben equivalent), named Anakin.

I am gonna say that there is no way that she is Leia and Han’s daughter. Han only seemed to gain slight insight as to who she might be over time. I’m reading the book now, and they definitely make it clear that Han doesn’t know who she is, at least at first. He’s suspicious, but where I’m at now (basically just after they met Han and Chewy) he doesn’t know. Also, if Leia who is force sensitive can’t recognize her own daughter, that’d just make zero sense. I know that Carrie Fisher can’t express emotion through her space-botaxed face, but Leia should still be able to recognize the daughter she’d be sharing something like the Force with.

As for the breaking of the Jedi code by Obi-Wan, yes that part is more difficult to explain. I still think this theory makes the most sense in every other way though. I’d say this or someone we haven’t seen yet or don’t know about would make the most sense.

Wedge would be cool, but her piloting skills are explained in “before the awakening” (one of the new books)

She salvaged a flight sim and got it working, then spent all her free time on it until she mastered everything

They definitely seem to imply an innate talent for piloting, but the sim explanation would certainly explain it too.

Yeah, I really wish it’d be someone like Wedge or Corran Horn. Another good way to make sense of it being Wedge is that he wasn’t present in the movie.

Please change the headline. I know several people who are really looking forward to the movie that haven’t been able to see it yet and putting that out there like that is just inconsiderate.

As for the article, I’m not saying this guy is wrong because we don’t know enough yet to say one way or another, but his argument makes about as much sense as Darth Binks. You really have to be willing to gloss over and twist a lot of stuff (“Ben Solo”, Parallelism, Obi-Wan back story, etc.) to think that it works. Then again, maybe Abrams is willing to do just that.

I think Leia knew. That’s what the long hug at the end was for - which is the first time she encounters her in the movie isn’t it? I’ve only seen the movie once so far, I’ll watch it about 80 times once it’s available for free on my Raspberry Pi. That’s why Han was offering her a job on the Falcon. That’s a huge step for him, we all know he doesn’t really “do” emotions. I believe they did the same exact thing to Rey as Luke’s mom did to him. Dropped his ass off at a boring sand world hoping to keep him safe from the evils (and of course - FAILED).

so ok if we go with the fact that Ben is the Anakin of the expanded universe, we’re still missing her brother. Maybe they just made it twins that are both strong in the force and they didn’t have a third?

I still think she’s han and leia’s kid whether she’s a twin or not.

And I’m telling you, in the book Han does not know who she is. He’s suspicious, but he definitely doesn’t know exactly. Pretty sure he’d recognize his own daughter, especially if she showed up in the Falcon from Jakku. lol

And it is true that it’s the first time Leia meets her, when they hug, but wouldn’t she have sensed her through the Force first? Not to mention that she obviously knew where Finn had escaped from and been, so she’d probably recognize if there was a Force sensitive girl from Jakku that’d it’s her daughter that she left there.

Sorry, but I just can’t see your theory being true. There’s way too much evidence against it. Luke would make more sense than Han and Leia, and I still don’t think that theory is sound.

in breaking the jedi code, I think obi-wan may have adhered less to the jedi code after order 66 and fall of all the jedi, as he knew there were only few left. therefore he found it important to continue the legacy of the jedi or whatever by having force-sensitive kids

If Rey is Luke’s daughter I’ll be disappointed. It’s too easy.

That being said I have a theory: Luke is Snoke. We’ve only seen Snoke as a projection, so we don’t know for sure what he actually looks like. Perhaps Luke is using Ben for his power and knows that the dark side is where the real power is, so he’s preparing Ben for battle against a much scarier enemy we haven’t seen yet.
